Math assignments are taxing, elaborate and huge in number and they demand regular work from students. High school students, especially find them overwhelming due to the complex nature of the sums assigned and the intricate methods involved in solving them. Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry and Trigonometry at the high school level involve topics that need focus and good comprehension of the concepts involved in the sums. Solving linear inequalities in Algebra or proving theorems about lines and angles in Geometry is not easy for all high school students. Similarly Statistics problems and graph representations or Probability analysis would be more than the capabilities of many students when they do Math assignments in these subjects.

Ask your teachers lots of questions. Keep asking until you are not clear about the concepts or topics you are working on. Each grade act as a step in the whole staircase to the mathematics high-rise building. Performing poor in math in any grade is like breaking some steps in the whole staircase. The first secret you need to discover is that your children will follow your lead. Not a big secret to most parents, but sometimes we are unaware of the influence we have on our children. How often have you sat faced with a list of figures - balancing the check book, credit card statement or filling out tax forms - and muttered about how much you hate math, how hard it is, how you just don‘t have a head for math? You need to stop yourself right now! What you are telling your child is that math is a horrid chore, a difficult task, and one that you either have the talent to do, or you don‘t. You are making your child anxious about a school subject that they will have to do for many years - and a skill that they will need for the rest of their lives. You are also telling them that if they struggle with math, it just means that they don‘t have the talent for it - and it is therefore not their fault, and there is nothing they can do about it.
Multiplication worksheets are a quick and easy way to introduce some math revision at home. At first your kids may not appreciate being given extra ”homework”, but the advantages they will gain from ”sharpening the saw” and practicing their math will serve them well; both back in the classroom and on in to later life. With a basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Word you can easily make your own math worksheets, but not everyone has that knowledge so it‘s fortunate that there are many websites dedicated to providing free printable resources, usually in PDF format. You just download, and print - the only software required is the free Adobe PDF reader.
